Easter is one of the most important holidays in Germany, taking places every Sunday after the first full moon in Spring. Hence, it falls on mid-April this year. The Berlin Easter holidays are the perfect time to travel to the German capital.

Overall, the city will be less crowded than usual and you can take advantage of the long weekend to visit the many attractions and special events and experience traditions like Easter bonfires and typical breakfasts. Just keep in mind that Good Friday as well as Easter Monday are public holidays in Germany and some shops and attractions may be closed.

A highlight for children will be the petting zoo.

Berlin Easter in 2022 is high season for classical music as every year as many concert houses host special events during the holidays. The Staatsoper Unter den Linden celebrates withs its annual ‘Festtage.’ The Festtage 2022 are all bout Mozart and take place from April 6th to 17th. Also the trilogy of Da Ponte operas "Così fan tutte", "Le nozze di Figaro" and "Don Giovanni", staged by Vincent Huguet and musically directed by Daniel Barenboim, will be performed in a cyclical context for the first time.

Other great concerts that’s not only taking place under the free sky but is also free of cost are Carillon Easter Concerts in the Tiergarten. The Carillon in the famous park consists of 68 bells and can be heard all over the area. Carillonneur Jeffrey Bossin will play Easter chorales as well as typical Spring songs on the 17th and 18th of April from 4 p.m. for a very special Easter concert.

Another great event in the Britzer Garten! A highlight of Spring in Berlin is experiencing the world around you come to life. The perfect way to celebrate this occasion is the Spring Festival in the garden in Berlin-Neukölln. Surrounded by lush nature and blossoming trees on Parchimer Allee near Gutspark Bitz, the Spring Festival is a beloved traditional folk fest.

The free stage program includes numerous live performances by bands, fireworks and, of course, visits from the Easter Bunny. And if you need a break from the hustle and bustle, simply take a stroll through the Britzer Park. Watch two hens perform a very special egg dance on the quest to find their lost egg, enjoy the light background music by the Berlin Brassgirls and watch the windy witch Schneckenwurz, the beautiful princess and of course the Easter Bunny come together in a fabulous puppet show.

The nature conservation centre at Teufelssee has been a place of learning and experience in Berlin's oldest preserved waterworks in the middle of Grunewald for over 3 decades.
